Join us for an afternoon of exciting discussion and activism on a broad range of issues  relating to government-imposed morality.

The Civil Liberties Symposium 2009 features:
  • Keynote speech by the Honorable Ronald T.Y. Moon, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Hawaii.
  • Following the keynote, choose 2 breakout sessions to attend:
    • Breakout session A "The Government in Our Bedrooms" Planned panelists will discuss trends toward Marriage Equality and the ongoing struggle to defend women's rights to reproductive freedom.
    • Breakout Session B: “Justice for Some - But Not For All?” Planned panelists on prison conditions, re-integration after incarceration as well as access to justice & discrimination issues faced by immigrant communities.
    • Breakout Session C: “Technology and Privacy” Planned panelists on trends in DNA & privacy, the controversial patent of the "breast cancer gene" (BRCA), and the increasing use of biometrics - body and facial scanners - during travel.

Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the event, but your RSVP will help us plan!

Parking/Transportation: Self-parking: $5 in Blaisdell lot. Street parking in surrounding area is metered. The Blaisdell Center is served by major bus lines. Contact TheBus for schedules and information.
