![]() Legal Department Application Deadline: September 6, 2005 The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii (ACLU of Hawaii) seeks a Legal Assistant to provide support, primarily to its legal department. Some assistance will also be provided to the general office. Under the supervision of the Legal Director, this position requires a high degree of organization and flexibility, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound independent judgment, and take initiative. Principal Responsibilities: Responsibilities require the ability to work in an organized manner with limited supervision.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have: (1) a commitment to civil rights and civil liberties (including prisoners’ rights); (2) excellent oral and written communication skills; and (3) solid computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Word (2000 or later), Microsoft Outlook, and database programs). Additionally, the candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented and accurate, with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work in a busy office environment. Paralegal degree highly desirable but not required. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree required. Compensation: Salary $30,000. Excellent benefits package.
