Thomas P. Gill Scholar

The Thomas P. Gill Scholar was established to be awarded annually to a public high school student in Hawai`i to work on legislative issues.

The Gill Scholar will receive a scholarship of $500 and work alongside an ACLU volunteer during the legislative session. The Scholar will do research and draft testimony, follow an issue from start to finish, working with ACLU volunteers, legislators, and the community.

Gill graduated from Roosevelt High School so the program will outreach to public school students on O'ahu to start. The public is urged to donate to the fund so that the program can be offered statewide and involve more students.

Donations to the fund are not tax-deductible since the program's activities are legislative. For a Gill Scholar application, contact the ACLU at 522-5900 or click here.
