ACLU Community Event Set for Kahului

10/16/09 “Talk Story” with New Affiliate President and Staff

Kahului – As part of its 45th anniversary celebration, the American Civil Liberties Union of Hawai‘i (ACLU) will hold a free, public meeting on Friday, October 16 at Maui Community College, Ka Lama 103 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Recently elected affiliate president Barbara Ankersmit and members of the board, legal, legislative and public education programs of the ACLU will be on hand. The community is invited to attend for the latest updates on the work of the ACLU of Hawaii. and to share their views about civil liberties issues facing Maui and the nation. Maui-based board member Gail Gnazzo said: “We encourage the public to join us for a conversation about the enduring importance of civil liberties, and how the ACLU can continue to be a leader in the fight for justice and equality in the next 45 years.”

RSVPs are requested by October 12th, but walk-ins on the evening of the event are also welcome. The Maui Community College is ADA-accessible.
